If you're allergic to the metric system, corn starch, or unbridled joy, you'd probably be more comfortable watching Matlock than at the starting blocks of this color-filled 5k. But if you're itching for a great time and not from a bad case of diaper rash, Color Me Rad Jackson is the run for you.By intelligent design or evolution, man was meant to run for one thing and one thing only: to stay alive. Pamplona was the first real race organized for what running should be: running from stuff that's going to kill, gore, or maim you.Luckily, we've evolved to where we only hunt for attractive potential mates, we only gather for extreme couponing, and we only run to benefit charities and our cardiovascular system.Race DetailsColor Me Rad Jackson will be at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on March 23, 2013 and benefits theFriends of Children's Hospital. Color Me Rad Jackson is excited to be a part of the Zippity Doo Dah Weekend on March 23, 2013, benefitting the Blair E. Batson Friends of Childrens Hospital. The race takes place in the historic Fondren District starting at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadiium. Check out the "Charity Partner" tab to find out more about what they're doing. The Color Bombs start flying at 9 am with waves of runners getting plastered with paint every 5 minutes after. You'll end up looking like a kindergarten art class gone wrong... but the Art of Running will make you feel oh so right. Don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook for race updates and to win sweet stuff: more color, running shoes, hoodies, free entries.
With more than 210,000 patient visits at the Stollery Children's Hospital in 2011, we know this number will continue to grow right along with the child population of Alberta. And, it's not just the children in Alberta who count on the Stollery. With the largest catchment area of any children's hospital in Canada, there are more than 1.7 million children who count on this centre of excellence. There are children from northern BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, plus Nunavut, the Yukon and the Northwest Terriorties.
It hosts the only pediatric emergency in northern Alberta, it is the referral centre for all complex pediatric heart surgeries and transplants, a major organ transplantation centre, home to Canada's largest regional program for neonatal intensive and intermediate care, and provides some of the most advanced treatments for child health issues in the country.
Through donor support, the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation continues to help send more children home each year.
